The fraudulent quiet title suit by Golden Rivers LLC was covered by the Taos News this week. I have to make one major correction, the lots sold at auction on October 28th were in Tres Piedras Estates, not Tres Orejas. Prices in Tres Orejas would be considerably higher. As a board member of the West Rim Mutual Domestic Water Users Association I regularly look at the property documents of prospective members and these sometimes include the purchase price. There is one recent property that consisted of several contiguous lots in Carson Estates Unit 5 , Two Peaks, that sold for more than twice as much. The lots being fraudulently claimed in Unit 3 would sell for even more I’m sure. Especially considering the marketing experience of the local realtor behind it. I’ve dealt with her recently, before the suit was filed. It wasn’t unfriendly. She had sold a local property and submitted an application on behalf of the buyer and insisted with great urgency that the membership needed to be approved quickly. We approved it, I sent the information to the buyer necessary to access our water system. I never heard back and the buyer has yet to use our system. Most of the people who join our association are getting water within days of joining. So I feel that I was used as part of a hustle and the West Rim MDWUA will no longer accept applications submitted by her or any other realtor on behalf of a buyer. We are here to serve our community’s need for water, not to add value to a property deal.
